Geisha wax. Impossible hairdos made possible. This wax needs a little treatment and is recommended for professional use. It's best to heat the wax with a blowdryer to make it usable. Knowing that it's used for Geisha styles this wax excels in creating extreme looks and shapes. The Geisha style is characterised by hair which stands upright and to the sides straight from the roots, that is why this particular wax has a solid hold. Once applied you can soften the wax again by blow-drying the hair to reshape its form.
Product info:
Hoshitoko wax – handmade in Japan by the same family for over 155 years following ancient traditions.
The main ingredient in Hoshitoko wax is called Japan wax, or Urushi Wax, which is another word for lacquer in Japan. Urushi stems from the fruits of the Urushi tree which produces highly durable lacquer. All Hoshitoko products consist of natural ingredients and are easy to use in combination with other products.
Hoshitoko wax-making represents a broad cultural history. The waxes were specifically made for sumo wrestlers and geishas but also for samurai movies and wigmakers for the Kabuki theatre. Kabuki theatre is Japan's most popular form of traditional performance art to this day – it was the epitome of style and fashion in its time. People used to visit the kabuki theatre to get a taste of the latest fashion trends.
There are three kinds of wax, and each has its unique quality: black: sumo wrestler wax; green: Kabuki wax, designed for wigmakers of the Kabuki theatre; white: geisha wax, which is rock-hard and requires to be softened by heating the wax the first.
